At C3, we have ten core values and the one for this month is We Focus on the Unchurched.
Vision provides direction. Values guide us and keep us on track.
The value that we talked about last month was We Are Holy Spirit Led. We aren’t led by traditions or popular opinion but by the Holy Spirit.
WE ARE A FOCUSED ON THE UNCHURCHED
Our vision has never been to try and reach people who already go to church. Our vision is to reach people who aren’t involved in church and may not know who Jesus is!
Outward focused church not an Inward focused church.
We must live our lives focused on others. It’s not about you. Yes God wants to work in your life and bless you, but He wants us to make a difference with our lives!
Small people think only of themselves and their needs. People that live BIG think of others.
C3 is a church that focuses on reaching the unchurched
Our vision has always been to provide Real hope for Real People in a Real World.

It is important to have both vision and values in our lives. Vision provides direction. Values guide us and keep us on track. We have 10 Core Values at C3 and one of those is We Are Holy Spirit Led.
We aren’t led by the past.
We aren’t led by traditions.
We aren’t led by popular opinion.
We are led by the Holy Spirit.
Colossians 2:8, “See to it that no one takes you captive through hollow and deceptive philosophy, which depends on human tradition and the elemental spiritual forces of this world rather than on Christ.”(NIV)
The Holy Spirit guides us into all truth. He will never tell you to do something that is contrary to the world of God.
John 16:13, “But when he, the Spirit of truth, comes, he will guide you into all the truth. He will not speak on his own; he will speak only what he hears, and he will tell you what is yet to come.”(NIV)
God has given every single one of us the ability to make a difference with our lives. If we aren’t careful we can focus on our limitations or on our failures. But I believe every single one of us can live a life of excellence!
What is excellence?
Excellence is different than perfection. Excellence is doing the best you can with what God has put in your hands.
Perfection is never being satisfied until everything is exactly the way you think it should be.
In 1998 Martha and I moved from Lynchburg, VA to the Raleigh area of NC to start a new church. I can remember driving around rural North Carolina seeing homemade signs promoting a fundraiser a church or organization was doing with typos and written sloppy by hand. I began to think how we could raise the level of excellence in our community. I believe that when we live a life of excellence that it will help others around us see that they can too.
Our church has gone from meeting in an elementary school...
Whenever a pastor or a leader casts vision it can be challenging for a number of reasons. The primary reason is because the devil doesn’t like it when we cast a vision that results in changed lives and the spreading of the gospel. Here are a few challenges you may face and some suggestions as you cast vision…
Stay Focused– When you have a vision from God don’t get distracted or discouraged. Every great leader faces the challenge of getting their eyes off of what God has called them to do. No matter what happens keep your eyes on Jesus and what He has called you to do. Check out
Hebrews 12:1-2 - “Therefore, since we are surrounded by such a huge crowd of witnesses to the life of faith, let us strip off every weight that slows us down, especially the sin that so easily trips us up. And let us run with endurance the race God has set before us. We do this by keeping our eyes on Jesus, the champion who initiates and...
