THE POWER OF FOCUS

Mar 23, 2018

Although I don’t eat a lot of them I love donuts! I can remember as a kid growing up in Nashville, TN it was a big deal when my dad would stop at a donut shop on the way home from Sunday church and pick up a dozen donuts of different varieties. I liked the blueberry filled with powder frosting.

There’s a donut shop in Carolina Beach, NC that only sells one donut. All they sell is a glazed donut. They don’t have sprinkles. They don’t have chocolate frosting. They don’t have any fillings. Just one donut.

When I first went there several years ago we had to wait for about 30 minutes just to get in the door. They are cash only and only open during certain times of the year. But they were rated the best donut shop in North Carolina last year.

This is an example of the power of focus! They have discovered what they are good at and they stick with it.

If we aren’t careful we can try to do too many things and end up accomplishing very little. If you are a business owner, CEO, team leader or a pastor we can experience success when we only focus on what we feel we are best at and will meet the needs of others.

Here are a few benefits of staying focused:

  1. It’s easier to reproduce and multiply what you are doing.
  2. It’s better stewardship.
  3. You can accomplish more with less.
  4. Your team will know exactly what the goal is.
  5. It frees you up to be more creative.
  6. You add value to others!
