MONDAY MOTIVATION: 10 BENEFITS OF GENEROSITY

Dec 03, 2018

This month our core value we're diving into is "We Are Generous."

Before we go further into this topic, I want to invite you all to our Christmas Eve services on December 23rd at 10:00am and 6:00pm and December 24th at 12:00pm, 2:00pm, and 4:00pm! Mark your calendars and start inviting your friends and family!

When we first started C3, I would drive down the Johnston County roads and see homemade signs that would say something like $8 chicken plate for sale, which made the church look like we are needy.

God’s plan is for His church to give tithes and offerings is to support the vision and mission of the church so that we can give things away to the community.

We are here to bless our community through acts of kindness, which is why we are participating in Angel Tree and providing gifts to families in need right here in Johnston County. If you want to be a part of that just go to c3church.com or grab a tag off of a Christmas tree in our lobby.

Matthew 5:38-42, You have heard the law that says the punishment must match the injury: ‘An eye for an eye, and a tooth for a tooth.’ 39 But I say, do not resist an evil person! If someone slaps you on the right cheek, offer the other cheek also. 40 If you are sued in court and your shirt is taken from you, give your coat, too. 41 If a soldier demands that you carry his gear for a mile,[b] carry it two miles. 42 Give to those who ask, and don’t turn away from those who want to borrow.”(NLT)

GENEROSITY COMES FROM THE HEART

GENEROSITY HAS NO STRINGS ATTACHED

GENEROSITY MEANS YOU ARE WILLING TO GO THE SECOND MILE

GENEROSITY ALWAYS GOES ABOVE AND BEYOND

4 Hindrances to generosity:

  • Selfishness
  • Jealousy
  • Pride
  • Lack of Preparation

1 Timothy 6:17-19, “Teach those who are rich in this world not to be proud and not to trust in their money, which is so unreliable. Their trust should be in God, who richly gives us all we need for our enjoyment. 18 Tell them to use their money to do good. They should be rich in good works and generous to those in need, always being ready to share with others. 19 By doing this they will be storing up their treasure as a good foundation for the future so that they may experience true life.”

Let’s be generous! Let’s not just do the minimum.

  • Generous with our Time
  • Generous with our Passion
  • Generous with our Resources
  • Generous with the Gift God has given to us

2 Corinthians 9:6, “Remember this—a farmer who plants only a few seeds will get a small crop. But the one who plants generously will get a generous crop.”(NLT)
